Comedor del Arte is closed from saturday, december 24 till sunday, january 8. We will use the free time not only for making holidays, we will try to make some reconstruction work as well.

Im Rahmen der niederösterreichischen Tage der Offenen Ateliers und der Tuwas-Mitmachtage hat auch der Comedor del Arte Samstag und Sonntag geöffnet. Das ganze Haus soll zu einem Ausstellungsraum werden. Verschiedene Stationen bzw. Räume werden Arbeiten unserer kleinen und großen Gäste zeigen. Geplant ist auch, die Ergebnisse vergangener Workshops zu präsentieren. Diese Ausstellungen sind also auch ein Rückblick auf die ersten acht Monate Comedor del Arte. Soviel vorweg: Es ist viel passiert!
Kunst betrachten macht hungrig – daher werden wir auch leckere Speisen anbieten. Denn wir verstehen Kochen als Kunst, die durch den Magen geht!
Tage der Offenen Ateliers

On Saturday, Sept 24 at 8pm, there will be a family style concert at Comedor del Arte. Clemens Schmidt, son of Franz Witzmann, will play guitar, and Mika Abdullaeva, co-founder of Commedor del Arte will sing some songs.
Both artists are about 20 years old, very talented and both have plenty of musical plans for the future.
The soprano Mika Abdullaeva wants to become a singer. Due to connections from Franz Witzmann, she was able to participate in some public appearances including the human rights stage of Donauinselfest and at the talent competition of Lower Austria (NOEN Talentwettbewerb) 2015. In the meantime she already recorded some songs together with her sister Aida. Mika sings Pop and Classical with feeling and passion!
Clemens Schmidt is currently studying medicine in Vienna. He has already participated in numerous competitions, and he also performed as a solo-act in various settings on stages throughout Austria and Europe. For this particular evening, he plans to perform his own compositions, and music from other so-called acoustic finger style artists.
We are very much looking forward to the performance from both of them!

What is acoustic finger style? With influence from musicians like Michael Hedges, Andy McKee, Antoine Dufour, Don Ross and Thomas Leeb, this style tries to produce a full band sound & ensemble through a very wide variety of guitar techniques. This is being done with classical guitar technique, percussion on the instrument, tapping of the strings, etc. The complete sound is being produced through integration of these various sound elements. Various musical pieces are being performed, from Irish melodies to singer/songwriter to well known arrangements like Coldplay and Toto, all done on one instrument, and occasionally supported with voice.

Im Rahmen der Tuwas-Mitmachtage bietet der Comedor del Arte ein Collageworkshop an. Die Papiercollage ist eine einfach Technik, die sehr ausdrucksstark wirken kann. Das Bildmaterial dazu stammt aus Zeitschriften, Prospekten und Büchern. Der Phantasie und Kreativität sind keine Grenzen gesetzt.

DAS INTERVIEW
Julia Dossi wird das Collage-Workshop leiten. Sie ist 1980 in Wien geboren und studierte Theater- und Filmwissenschaft. Aufenthalte in China, USA und Frankreich folgten, seit 2009 lebt sie wieder in Wien. Sie arbeitet u.a. auch als Journalistin und Illustratorin. Alexandra Eichenauer-Knoll stellte ihr vorab schon ein paar Fragen.
Liebe Julia, Du wirst im Comedor del Arte im Rahmen der Tuwas-Mitmachtage ein Workshop zum Thema Papiercollagen abhalten. Was sollten wir dafür an Hilfsmaterialien vorbereiten?
Idealerweise hat jeder Teilnehmer eine feine Schere, mit der auch kleinteiliges Schneiden möglich ist, ein Blatt Papier, auf dem man die einzelnen Teile arrangiert und einen milden Kleber, evtl. in Stick-Form, der nicht tropft. Außerdem Bildmaterial in Form von Zeitschriften, Bildbänden, buntem Papier, etc., aus dem man Teile ausschneiden möchte.
Du bist eine talentierte Zeichnerin. Um eine Collage anzufertigen, muss man allerdings nicht unbedingt zeichnen können – was erwartest Du dennoch von Deinen TeilnehmerInnen?
Ich wünsche mir, dass die TeilnehmerInnen frei ihren Inspirationen folgen und in der Collage ihr eigenes ästhetisches Empfinden ausdrücken können.
Wie geht man an eine Collage heran? Gibt es zuerst die Idee bzw. das Thema oder ein interessantes Bild in einer Zeitung?
Alles ist möglich. Manchmal ergibt sich eine Collage, indem man ungezwungen ausprobiert, welche Elemente sich am Papier gut zusammenfügen. Oft gibt es eine Idee, die man gerne umsetzen will, ein Thema, mit dem man sich gerade beschäftigt, das man auf abstrakte Weise am Papier darstellen kann.
Du hast auch Filmwissenschaft an der Uni Wien studiert. Kann man mit Collagetechnik gut Geschichten erzählen?
Wer in der Collagetechnik gezielt inhaltliche Bezugspunkte setzt oder zum Beispiel mit der gewählten Farbpalette eine bestimmte Stimmung erzeugt, kann ohne Worte Geschichten erzählen. Filmemacher aus der US- Avantgarde, mit deren Arbeit ich mich während des Studiums und danach beruflich beschäftigt habe, wie Stan Vanderbeek oder Joseph Cornell zum Beispiel, haben mit Collagetechniken gearbeitet, genauso wie der Surrealist Man Ray oder der Maler Matisse.
Ist es mehr die Ästhetik oder der Prozess des Montierens – was reizt Dich so besonders an der Collagetechnik?
Es sind die Bilder zwischen den Bildern, die Assoziationen freisetzen, die mich interessieren. Ein Sammelsurium an Einzelteilen fügt sich zu einem Ganzen zusammen. Die Spannungen zwischen den Elementen auszuloten und zu fixieren ist ein Prozess.
Wo findest Du die besten Vorlagen für Collagen? Was sollen wir besonders sammeln?
Die besten Vorlagen findet jeder für sich, indem er die Bildressourcen sammelt, die er verwenden möchte. Fachmagazine oder alte Bildbände, Tageszeitungen und Kataloge eignen sich, manchmal bekommt man sie auch geschenkt. Es gibt genug alte Zeitschriften, Bücher und Fotos auf Flohmärkten. Mit unterschiedlichen Materialien lassen sich interessante Kontraste erzielen.
In Deinen Collagen beschäftigst Du Dich ziemlich viel mit dem Thema Kulinarik. Kommt das daher, dass Du auch als Gastro-Journalistin arbeitest?
Eine Weile habe ich als Gastro-Journalistin gearbeitet, das stimmt. Die meisten Collagen in der Auswahl sind aber während der Recherchen für ein Kochbuch und ein Blogprojekt entstanden, andere waren für einen Anlass im Freundeskreis bestimmt.
Six short films will be presented on saturday July, 9, 2016, starting from 6 p.m. in the Comedor del Arte. They are the result of three workshops, with four to five asylum seekers each. Together with media artist Sonja Wessel the people will tell their own, personal story in a film, which lasts from 5 to 10 minutes. In the workshops the young people had also the possibility to learn different film techniques such as recording or cutting.
Franz Witzmann from the COMEDOR DEL ARTE organized for this project a group of young people living in Hainfeld.
The presentation is a nice opportunity to talk and make friends. The entrance is free. Food and drinks are availabe for fee.
The project is organized by Villa Kreativ, Neulengbach and is part of the Viertelfestivals NÖ Mostviertel 2016.

From now on, Comedor del Arte is open also on Saturday afternoon, from 4 to 7 p.m. We want to help especially those families, which are going to the TAFEL. Their childen can stay at the Comedor, people can leave their shopping bags in our rooms.
From july on, in the Red-Cross-house there is only one person per family allowed to come.
